The Bahamas Great Exuma Classic Teeing Off This Weekend

Get your clubs ready! Exuma is hosting the Bahamas Great Exuma Classic this weekend. Here's what you can expect from the event.




Exuma has a lot to offer- gorgeous beaches, cute swimming pigs, and awesome weather. But what a lot of people don’t know is that Exuma is also home to a PGA golf tour. Established last year, The Bahamas Great Exuma Classic is a Web.com Tour played at the Sandals Emerald Bay Golf Course.

 

Dates

This year the tour will start Saturday, January 13th, and last until Tuesday, January 16th. This is the second time this tour will be held in Exuma. There is also a second tour that will take place in the Bahamas, The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic.

 

Tour Style

For those that don’t know, Web.com Tour is a developmental tour for the US-based PGA tour. It’s for professional golfers who either haven’t reached the PGA Tour level yet or who haven’t won enough points to stay at the level. In recent years the Web.com Tour has been the primary pathway for golfers to earn their PGA Tour card.




Location

This golf tour will be held at the Sandals Emerald Bay resort on their stunning golf course. The resort and golf course are located on Great Exuma, the largest island in Exuma.

 

Broadcast and Schedule

This is the first golf tournament of the year for Web.com Tour. It will be globally televised on the Golf Channel. For those on the island or who want to watch in person, passes can be purchased. The tour will start airing at 11:30 am until 1:30 pm. The event schedule is as follows:

  • Wednesday, Jan. 10 – Pro-Am
  • Friday, Jan. 12 – Pro-Am
  • Saturday, Jan. 13 – First Round
  • Sunday, Jan. 14 – Second Round
  • Monday, Jan. 15 – Third Round
  • Tuesday, Jan. 16 – Fourth Round
