The key to any successful vacation comes down to two things- planning and packing.

Make sure you enjoy your trip to Exuma by packing accordingly.

CLOTHING

The Bahamas are located in the tropical Caribbean so expect warm, humid weather. Exuma is a laid back setting so expect people to wear casual wear almost anywhere. Sundresses, shorts, tank tops, sandals, and t-shirt are all recommended and acceptable. Think linen and cotton, not denim and leather. Try to pack transitional clothing too, something you can throw over a swimsuit after a day fishing to go to lunch.

When it comes to footwear, make sure to bring comfortable shoes. Most of the terrain is uneven with rocks and sand. There are lots of exploring opportunities too! Bring sandals as well, including flip-flops. Shoes that can get wet without sliding are highly recommended.

Remember to pack plenty of swimwear. Most of the wonderful activities and sites that Exuma has to offer revolves around the water. You’re not going to be able to resist the blue-green water so make sure you have multiple bathing suits.

It’s also important to keep the time of year in mind. While Exuma is always pleasantly hot, during certain seasons there can be cool breezes, especially at night. So check ahead and maybe bring a light jacket for nighttime. The rainy months can bring storms so consider a rain jacket.

ACCESSORIES

Packing the proper accessories is just as important as clothing. Don’t forget to bring sunglasses and hats to keep the strong sun off of you. A backpack or beach tote wouldn’t go unused either. Don’t forget to pack jewelry for those stunning nighttime dinners either!

DO NOT FORGET SUNSCREEN!

Yes, we had to put that in caps. Nothing ruins a vacation faster than sunburn. The sun here is hot, and chances are you’ll be in quite a bit so make sure to bring plenty of sunscreen. Bringing some aloe gel along for any burns isn’t a bad idea either.

ELECTRONICS

We highly recommend you bring a camera- or charge up your phone! You’ll want to capture the memories you make in Exuma as well as the gorgeous scenery. Phone service and WiFi isn’t always reliable as you explore Exuma but around Georgetown and the resorts, it is available so you will be able to use your phone. While we do suggest you unplug for a bit, taking a few pictures to make the people back home jealous is high recommended.

The Bahamas use North American 110 A/C power so keep that in mind if you need adapters for chargers and cords. Don’t forget to pack any chargers you might need since tech stores on Exuma aren’t always well stocked.

SPORTING EQUIPMENT

The good news is that you can find equipment to rent for any activity on Exuma. Snorkeling, diving, paddle boarding, fishing and more! Exuma has some of the best fishing so some professional fishers bring their own rods. It isn’t necessary- the locals have plenty of high-end fishing gear- but it’s up to you.

Pack your bags, we’ll see you in Exuma soon!
