New Entry Requirements for The Bahamas

Are you excited to escape to the stunning beaches of the Bahamas? There are some new changes to entry requirements you’ll have to get up to date on.

 

Effective August 6th, any visitor applying for a travel health visit to enter the Bahamas internationally, or travel within the Bahamas domestically, with be subject to the following new testing requirements.

 

Entering the Bahamas

 

Vaccinated Travelers

All fully vaccinated international travelers wishing to enter the Bahamas will now be required to obtain a COVID-19 test (rapid antigen test or PCR), with a negative result within five days of arrival in the country.

 

Unvaccinated Travelers

There are no changes to testing requirements for unvaccinated wishing to enter the Bahamas. All unvaccinated international visitors who are 12 and older will be required to have a negative PCR test taken within 5 days of arrival in the Bahamas.

 

Children & Infants

All children between the ages of 2 and 11 who wish to enter the Bahamas will be required to obtain a COVID-19 test (rapid antigen test or PCR) with a negative result within 5 days of arrival in the Bahamas. All children under the age of 2 are exempt from any testing requirements.


 

Traveling within the Bahamas

 

Vaccinated Travelers

All fully vaccinated travelers, including Bahamian citizens and residents, that wish to travel between islands in the Bahamas will have to obtain a negative COID-19 test (either rapid antigen test or PCR) taken no more than five days prior to the date of travel from the following islands: Nassau & Paradise Island, Grand Bahama, Bimini, Exuma, Abaco, North and South Eleuthera, including Harbour Island.

 

Unvaccinated Travelers

Unvaccinated travelers ages 12 and older traveling inter-island from Nassau & Paradise Island, Grand Bahama, Bimini, Exuma, Abaco, North and South Eleuthera, including Harbour Island must obtain a negative COVID-19 PCR (swab) test taken no more than 5 days prior to the date of arrival.

 

Children & Infants

All children, between the ages of 2 and 11, wishing to travel within The Bahamas will now be required to obtain a COVID-19 test (Rapid Antigen Test or PCR), with a negative result, within five days of the travel date from the following islands: New Providence, Grand Bahama, Bimini, Exuma, Abaco and North and South Eleuthera, including Harbour Island. All children, under the age of 2, are exempt from any testing requirements.


 

Other Important Info

  • These new testing requirements are only for all travelers applying for a Bahamas Travel Health Visa after August 6th. All applications submitted and approved prior to that date will be honored.
  • Domestic Travel Health Visa feeds will be waived for Bahamians and residents traveling within the Bahamas
  • The Bahamas Travel Health Visa application can take up to 48 hours to process so complete it with adequate time
  • For international travelers, proof of vaccination must confirm they passed the two-week immunity period
  • At this time the Bahamian government only accepts vaccines by Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, and AstraZeneca
  • These new rules apply to both cruise and air passengers
  • The Bahamian government accepts mixed and matched second doses of AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines
