American Airlines Adding More Flights to The Bahamas

Looking to book a trip to The Bahamas? Well, now it will be easier! American Airlines is adding more flights to The Bahamas.

American Airlines, the largest commercial airline in the United States, recently announced they would be adding additional routes to The Bahamas! For anyone that has ever booked a flight to The Bahamas or tried to, you know that flights aren’t as frequent as people would like. American Airlines is now addressing that issue.

The airline will be adding a new route from New York to Nassau, as well as an additional weekly flight from Charlotte, North Carolina to Nassau. These new flights should be added this December, just in time for a winter vacation.

The new flights will operate from New York’s La Guardia Airport to Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) in Nassau, and from Charlotte Douglas International Airport to LPIA. For now, these additional flight routes will be only on Saturdays.

American Airlines said they would operate its Airbus A319 for these two flights. The airline features 8 first class seats, 24 seats in the main cabin with additional legroom, and 96 seats in the main cabin.

Alfredo Gonzalez, American Airlines’ Managing Director for the Caribbean, said, “As we continue growing our presence in the Caribbean we are proud to further strengthen our more than 30-year commitment to The Bahamas. This new service will provide our Bahamian customers with excellent connectivity to our New York and Charlotte hubs, and at the same time promote tourism to these beautiful islands.”

The Bahamas Minister of Tourism and Aviation Dionisio D’Aguilar said, “We are thrilled to be able to offer New Yorkers even more options for visiting our islands with these new services from la Guardia. The new service from New York, along with supplemental service from Charlotte, North Carolina are a testament to the strong demand from these markets and we hope to see continued growth from these two important cities.”

In January, American Airlines celebrated 30 years of providing service to and from The Bahamas.

Many people in Exuma were concerned that the United States and American companies would stop promoting tourism in The Bahamas after the boat explosion earlier this month, which took the life of an American woman and the legs of a young American girl. Multiple others were injured.

American companies still seem keen on working with The Bahamas despite the setback of this freak accident. Tourism in The Bahamas, and specifically Exuma, continues to grow each year. These new flights will now allow tourists greater opportunities to visit The Bahamas and increase the nation’s economy.
